Forsaken Gift
Nature is so serene.
So lush, vivid and green.
Covering mother earth,
with its ever glowing sheen.
The rollicking hills.
The gurgling streams.
The tall and dark woods,
with figs and moss underneath.
Fleeting images are these,
for the crowd so urban.
Seen sitting on the couch,
only on the Discovery Channel.
Man becomes a virus.
A parasite with no mind.
Spreading to new territories,
leaving waste behind.
The price to be paid,
we have to realise.
Before vagaries of nature,
unleash before our eyes.
Earthquakes in J and K.
Rains drenching Bombay.
Floods sinking whole of Chennai,
bringing sorrow, grief and dismay.
Man has the power,
to upkeep or destroy.
So lets make the choice,
to bring generations of joy.
So lush, vivid and green.
Covering mother earth,
with its ever glowing sheen.
The rollicking hills.
The gurgling streams.
The tall and dark woods,
with figs and moss underneath.
Fleeting images are these,
for the crowd so urban.
Seen sitting on the couch,
only on the Discovery Channel.
Man becomes a virus.
A parasite with no mind.
Spreading to new territories,
leaving waste behind.
The price to be paid,
we have to realise.
Before vagaries of nature,
unleash before our eyes.
Earthquakes in J and K.
Rains drenching Bombay.
Floods sinking whole of Chennai,
bringing sorrow, grief and dismay.
Man has the power,
to upkeep or destroy.
So lets make the choice,
to bring generations of joy.
